GRNzol Reagent is designed to isolate high quality total RNA from cell and tissue samples. It maintains the integrity of RNA while disrupting cells and dissolving cell components during sample homogenization.
After homogenizing the sample with GRNzol Reagent, chloroform is added, and the homogenate is allowed to separate into a clear upper aqueous phase (containingRNA), an interphase, and a lower organic phase. RNA is precipitated from the aqueous phase with isopropanol. DNA is precipitated from the interphase layer with ethanol. Protein is precipitated from the organic phase by isopropanol precipitation.
GRNzol Reagent can be applied to isolate RNA from both small amount of samples (50-100 mg tissue or 5 ×106 cells) and large amount of samples (≥1 g tissue or ≥107 cells) of human, animal, plant or bacteria,within one hour. GRNzol Reagent allows for simultaneous processing of a large number of samples. DNA and protein contamination is eliminated thoroughly from RNA products. Isolated RNA can be used in Northern Blot, Dot Blot, poly(A) selection, in vitro translation, RNase protection assay and molecular cloning.
GRNzol Reagent is designed as a yellow color liquid, in order to facilitate distinguishing aqueous phase from organic phase.
