ARIAS Digital Abbe Refractometer, One-of-a-kind Industrial Workhorse The ARIAS is the world's first transmitted light refractometer with precision comparable to high-end automatic reflected-light refractometers. This dual-array, automatic refractometer eliminates the need for determining exactly where the shadowline and crosshairs intersect. Just make sure the shadowline is somewhere within the field of view, and the ARIAS will automatically interpret the shadowline for you. Shadowlines on some fluids are not always sharp or easy to define due to particulate matter or non-homogeneous samples. This could result in variations in readings between operators using a manual refractometer. The ARIAS delivers consistent repeatable results free from user subjectivity. Simply place a sample on the prism, bring the shadow into the field of view, and press the Read button. There is no need to visually align the shadowline on the crosshairs or adjust for light dispersion. Of course, for those times when manual interpretation is desirable, the ARIAS can be easily switched to the manual mode. The ARIAS uses dual-sensor-array technology to precisely determine the shadowline position. The first array determines the operator positioning of the shadowline within the crosshair field. The second array automatically detects the exact shadowline position with much higher accuracy than can be achieved manually. The shadow doesn't even need to be aligned with the crosshairs. The reading is automatic as long as the shadowline is within the field of view. Automatic temperature equilibration allows the ARIAS to automatically sense when the sample and prism have reached thermal equilibrium. A reading will then be automatically initiated.
